GROUP SHORT TERM DISABILITY

Short Term Disability – Is a benefit that an employer will provide to their employees on a contributory, non contributory or voluntary basis.  Short Term Disability is a benefit that will provide an employee with replacement of loss of wages due to any non occupational illness or accident.  The benefit is a portion of the employee’s salary, for example 50%, 60%, 70% up to a maximum as high as $1500 per week.  You may have a waiting period involved with STD, typically 7 days .Along with the waiting period there is a duration period which can be anywhere from 13 weeks up to 2 years.  Short Term Disability is also integrated with any State Mandated Disability Policy.  We can be very creative with the plan designs based on the demographics, occupations and average annual salary.  Short Term Disability can be provided outside of NY State. There is no pre existing condition clause with STD so maternity would be a covered as any other incident.
